The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority plans to axe 30% of its 300 staff following the completion of the privatisation process of its six site licence companies. The Authority has been conducting a review of its effectiveness and has proposed large scale restructuring. The drive to reduce overheads and support comes in unison with similar imperative at the site licence companies.
The NDA has moved a 19,000 strong workforce from the public to the private sector through a process of restructuring the industry and transferring the ownership of nuclear sites to several of the leading companies in the world.
"It is right that, at a time when the NDA is targeting significant reductions in overhead and support costs across its site licence companies, we show leadership and shape the NDA into the most efficient and effective organisation we can be," said chief executive Tony Fountain.
There is now a 30-day period of consultation with trade unions on the new structure and any resultant redundancies.
