During 2008-09, a review and scoping exercise was carried out on the existing SAFEGROUNDS document Assessment of the health and environmental risks of management options for contaminated land, 2005 and on the Community Stakeholder Paper, 2002. The purpose of the exercise included identifying any gaps in the current documents and to highlight any changes since the revision of the SAFEGROUNDS documents. It will then be determined in our future programme whether there is a need to update the document or produce a relevant output.
The SAFEGROUNDS project steering group scheduled to meet in June will steer the way forward. In addition to this work, 2008/09 will bring about an updated version 6 of the Regulatory Framework paper. This is currently being peer reviewed by Ashurst the Environmental lawyers.
