SAFEGROUNDS mission:

'A forum for developing and disseminating good practice guidance on the management of radioactively and chemically contaminated land on nuclear and defence sites in the UK.'

Aims:

• Maintain and promote SAFEGROUNDS guidance
• Provide a forum for debate and encourage stakeholder participation
• Provide information on policy, regulatory and technical issues
• Develop further SAFEGROUNDS supporting documents
  
  

Learning network

To reflect the need for broader debate, awareness raising and site take-up of the guidance, SAFEGROUNDS became a learning network. This enables the network not just to write good practice guidance but to help drive its implementation.

A programme of activities is built around the mission and aims each year and there are various mechanisms designed to enable engagement with a representative set of players.
